Children move through smooth, welcoming transitions that include guided play, literacy, outdoor time, meals, rest, and afternoon enrichment—creating a steady routine that builds both confidence and independence.

Welcome, settle in, and start with choice

Before Care / Free Play

Children are welcomed into a relaxed, supportive environment where they can settle in at their own pace. Teachers greet each child, assist with separation from parents or guardians, and help them transition comfortably into the classroom. After putting away their belongings, children begin with free choice play.

A calm breakfast routine with shared responsibility

Breakfast Time

Breakfast is shared as a group, with children and teachers preparing, serving, and eating together. If needed, the class shifts into quiet activities like storytelling or music. While small groups rotate through the bathroom, others help maintain the classroom or engage in calm, independent play.

8:30–8:45 AM
Community, sharing, and a strong start together

Morning Meeting

Children gather as a group for greetings, sharing, and participation in daily discussions, news, and announcements. This time helps build a sense of community and sets a positive tone for the rest of the day.

8:45–10:00 AM Main learning block
Hands-on exploration with guided literacy support

Choice Time and Small Group

Children explore carefully planned interest areas while teachers lead a purposeful literacy activity with small groups of three to five students. The remaining children continue engaging, meaningful center-based learning.

Transitions with signals children recognize

Clean Up

Teachers use consistent signals—such as a bell, buzzer, or song—to guide children through clean up and help them transition smoothly to the next activity.

10:10–10:55 AM 45 minutes
Fresh air, movement, and supervised play

Outdoor Time

Children participate in planned outdoor activities while teachers supervise, engage, and support active play and positive social interaction.

10:55–11:05 AM
Healthy habits built into the day

Hand Washing / Bathroom

Teachers support children in following proper hand-washing and bathroom routines, promoting hygiene and readiness for what comes next.

11:05–11:20 AM 15 minutes
Reading that grows language and imagination

Story Time

This dedicated read-aloud time builds vocabulary, background knowledge, comprehension, fluency, and phonological awareness.

11:20–11:35 AM 15 minutes
Whole-group language, rhythm, and expression

Large Group

Children participate in planned activities that support literacy through songs, storytelling, poems, rhymes, chants, and playful language experiences.

11:35–11:45 AM 10 minutes
A smooth transition into lunch

Lunch Prep

Half of the class prepares for lunch while the other half continues with poems, rhymes, chants, or music, helping the group transition in an organized and calm way.

11:45 AM–12:15 PM 30 minutes
Conversation, care, and shared mealtime

Lunch Time

At least one teacher sits with the children during lunch, supporting a calm meal routine while encouraging conversation and social development.

12:15–1:15 PM 60 minutes
Rest, reset, and recharge

Nap Time

Teachers help children unwind and relax so they can fall asleep comfortably, while supervising the rest area to ensure it stays quiet, safe, and soothing.

Wake up gently and prepare for the afternoon

Wake Up / Bathroom Routine

Lights come on, cots are put away, shoes are tied, and children are gently supported through bathroom routines as they transition out of rest time.

Energy, rhythm, and movement

Music and Movement

Teachers clear space and guide children through music and movement activities that help re-energize the room after nap time.

Afternoon choice time with focused math learning

Choice Time / Snack / Small Group Math

Children return to interest areas for free choice and snack, while teachers lead a planned small-group activity to strengthen math skills and build on earlier learning.

Clean Up

Teachers guide children through cleaning up their spaces, helping them transition smoothly into the final part of the day.

Closing Circle

Children come together for group discussion, reflecting on the day’s experiences and looking ahead to what’s next.

Unwind, Settle In, and Enjoy Flexible Time 

After Care / Free Play

Children transition from the structured day into a relaxed, supportive environment where they can choose activities at their own pace, including time in the gym or on the playground. Teachers provide guidance and supervision while children settle in and continue their day through free play until parents or family members arrive for pickup.
